The Context #

What made it possible was contractor status, which allowed independent invoicing alongside salaried work. The practice rested on long-standing relationships with former employers who stayed on as clients – supporting systems I had designed and providing ongoing PostgreSQL administration on monthly retainers. Trusted relationships rather than a broad client base: depth over volume.
